Classic Case: Granuloma from Histoplasmosis
Переглядів 8 тис.Рік тому
This is a classic case of a granuloma due to prior histoplasmosis. In the vast majority of histo infections, patients are either asymptomatic or have minimal symptoms. It is only later that a granuloma is found incidentally. When the granuloma is calcified, it is not a diagnostic challenge. When the granuloma is not calcified, the nodule can be mistaken for other lesions including cancer. That ...

Thank you, insightful video. My step-father has histo (Arkansas daily walker) and one new small lung nodule. How to get rid of it and/or prevent calcification?? Also, are you available for consult?
thanks alot dear , iam prof in radiology from iraq . you did v much informative and respective .
Many thanks for this excellent explanation. One thing to bear in mind: Brock syndrome. This is where an enlarge lymph node causes compression of the RML bronchs, and it's occasionally seen on chest X rays.
I have a 6mm nodule in my right lung should I be worried ?
here because i got back 2 back pneumthorax hahaha.
V good 👍
Lymph node at 5:11 video how do u say its lymph node n not pulmonary thromboembolism ??
Excellent... thank u
Sir i affected by oral cancer...i have some nodule in my lung also 3.7cm ×3.4 cm.... but those nodules still stable from 2022 june to 2024 may...can you please tell me something about that 🙏🏻
This is an amazing explanation! Thanks for making this video
Thank you very much.
I was hoping you were talking about calcified nachos and what that could possibly mean when someone has shortness of breath
Many thanks for this superb series! Both extremely clear and very interesting ... although nobody would believe that TNM staging can be interesting 😜
My sister had a diagnosed "nodule" ....CT confirmed changes...lung biopsy... lobectomy confirmed adenocarcinoma. Lung cancer stage 1. Please take nodules SERIOUSLY
👍
who's here after inicet?
This was so helpful!
Hello Dr. I was diagnosed with phenumothorax which was in self healing condition. But during the scan dr noticed multiple nodules ranging from 1 to 4mm. He asked me to repeat the scan after 2 months to jus clear the doubt abt cancer. Can I send you report at any email id for a 2nd opinion pls? Kindly help
i had lung surery one and a half years ago for a 1.5 to 2 nodual i am still in pain my question was the surgery nessesary i live in naples fl high dollar docs but iam in pain a year ad a half after surgery at NCH Dr Perscotto iam sure he did his best i still work at wynns market in the kitche go me idont know had a blood test today and i have a cat scan on the 31 thank you for the info oh it was a segment what ever
still watching so happy for the info
this is the best and i havent finished yet go doc need t finish watching
over 50% of people who have C.T scans have lung nodules. They should be monitored regular, if no changes are evident then every 24 months.
4:49 so truee im watching this in 2024. They had released TNM 9! 😂
no one can beat indian teacher , they can explain anything in simpler language . thanks ❤
What are the treatments for ABPA? I have a 4cm mass and MD wants to give high does steroids over two months. I heard about Anti Fungal meds to lower the steroid dosage. ? any ideas????
Great lecture,,, Thank you
I watched all 5 Core Exam videos. Please keep making videos, they're excellent !
Dear doctor by chance i did ct scan on my lung due to pain at my back intermittent pain anyway mentioned at ct report that i have in right middle lobe lateral segment 4mm nodule likely non specific My age is 43 , i was smoker total smoking period is 22 years approximately Also mentioed at report i have minimal bilateral apical emphysematous changes and right middle lobar and lingual fine linear atelectatic bands with right posterior basal fine subpleural reticulations What's your opionion
Most nodules of that size are benign but usually what we do is get a follow up scan to make sure.
A Collapse LUNG is a Collapse LUNG 🫁..😂😂😂😂😂
Does the heart recover back to normal after PE with right heart strain? Recovering now for a little over a month. I was under the impression the heart recovers after a strain 😢 takes a few months ?
Yes it can recover
This is perfection, personified! Thank you for your efforts and assistance to the throngs of people who need this explanation. Bless you always!
Hey Doc, I got diagnosed with this and I’m relatively young, and was physically very healthy before. I’m wondering if I can continue to smoke my medical marijuana while having it. I haven’t, and honestly my anxiety has been horrible. It feels like hell on earth. Thanks
I think smoking can be a cause of this. Can you switch to edibles?
@@ThoracicRadiology I hate edibles, they make me panic. I have switched to tinctures which have been holding me over! Thank you for your reply, really sucks that what’s been helping me has been the cause of this 😕
Superb presentation 🎉❤
Thanks a lot
Superb presentation 🎉
What exactly, does " multiple irregular streaky linear densities, fibrosis, atelectasis, or subpleural reticulation" ( in the bulibasal and basal region) mean? I am a 60 year old woman, and have never smoked in my life. But years ago (20s and 30s) I was exposed to asphalt, parrots and chickens, and I had pneumonia twice... as a child and in my 40s. I don't have a cough, just a minor loss of stamina ( I am rather active.) I am waiting to be seen by a pulmonologist, I just saw my PCP, but she didn't say much. I Googled all of these terms, and frankly it freaked me out. What is your opinion, doctor?
Really hard to say just based on description bc it could be a few different things. Not even sure if it is significant or not. Is this your first scan? Did they say it was stable or new?
@@ThoracicRadiology This is my first scan, I had not yet seen a pulmonologist, my appointment is next month. This was the results of my first and only CT.
Thank you so much for your video, very informative and your calm voice is so pleasant to listen. God bless you ❤
I had an x-ray done on my left chest. The doctor told me there was air where it shouldn't be. So, what is the treatment to cure?
Depends on the cause. Did your doctor say how it got there?
I have my xray results rn. Right apical pleural thickening
What would these CT findings mean: Multiple irregular streaky linear densities, fibrosis, atelectasis, and subpleural reticulation? ( In the bulibasal and basal region.) I just received the CT results ( the CT was taken for another issue - not my lungs) so that specialist couldn't elaborate, I am waiting to see my PCP and a referral to a pulmonologist. I am a 60 year old woman, never smoked, don't have a cough, and this is very alarming to me - trying to figure it out.
What is the medicine on that
Thank you so much doctor ur the best who explained that way I have diagnosed
Thank you for your soothing and calm explanation of lung nodules. I was just diagnosed incidentally from a heart CT with a less than 5 mm nodule and have convinced myself I have lung cancer. Your presentation is the best I have seen, and has calmed me down until I can discuss with my own doctor. Thank you so much!
Same here
I was so much worried 😢I found out that I have it but u calm my anxiety 😢
@@lubna62I will keep you in my prayers.
Same. They found 3 from a Cardiac CT the biggest being 4mm. I am an ex smoker so I am stressed. They want a follow up at the one year mark which will be this next January. I hate waiting but I keep telling myself if they were truly worried they would have scheduled it sooner. I just don't think I can handle anymore bad news. The heart condition was hard enough to accept.💔
this is amazing. Thank you!
Great video. What do you think about contrast reflux into the IVC and hepatic vasculature as another marker? pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22074991/#:~:text=In%20conclusion%2C%20extensive%20reflux%20of,chronic%20atrial%20fibrillation%2C%20or%20PE.
AT WHICH PAGE I CAN ASK QUESTIONS REGARDING CHEST RAD???????????????????????????????????????
I was diagnosed with nodules less than a month later I'm being told I have cancer in my left lung .
I had nodules low risk, had CT scans every six months, then yearly. At the last scan they could no longer see them.
